The Vitality Programme is built around a simple status system: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The more you engage, the higher your status — and the better your rewards get.

I started using Vitality last year and honestly the rewards have more than paid for the policy. The Apple Watch deal alone covers most of the premium — and being able to see a real GP at 9pm on a Sunday has changed how my family uses private healthcare.
The questions we hear most often from UK residents comparing Vitality cover.
Like all UK private medical insurance, Vitality covers new, acute medical conditions that arise after you take out the policy. Core cover typically includes inpatient and day-patient treatment, private hospital accommodation, consultant and specialist fees, theatre costs and nursing, comprehensive cancer cover, mental health support, MRI/CT/PET scans and 24/7 virtual GP access. Outpatient cover, therapies and dental/optical can be added as modular extras.
You earn Vitality Points for healthy activities — up to 100 for an online health review, up to 600 for a Vitality Healthcheck, 8 points per parkrun, 5 points per gym visit, and 1,000 points just for declaring as a non-smoker. Your annual points total determines your status (Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum), and your status determines the rewards you unlock — from cinema tickets and weekly coffee, all the way up to Apple Watch contributions and a 25% discount on renewal premium at Platinum.
For an active person, yes. You pay a small upfront fee (£29–£99) for a new Apple Watch and spread the rest over 24 months. Hit your monthly activity targets and Vitality covers the device payments. If you stop hitting targets, you make the monthly payment yourself — so it's a credit agreement, not free kit. Read the small print before signing up, and be honest about how active you'll be.
Standard cover follows industry norms — pre-existing conditions are typically excluded. The one exception is mental health: Vitality includes up to 8 sessions of pre-existing mental health cover as part of core. If you have a specific condition you need covered, talk to our team and we'll explain your options in plain English.
For a single UK adult in 2026, expect £50–£90/month for basic cover, £90–£150/month for comprehensive, and £160–£380+/month for a family. Your premium depends on your age, postcode, hospital list, excess level and the optional extras you choose. Vitality is generally more expensive than simpler insurers at the headline level — but the engagement-based rewards can offset the cost if you're an active member.
Build modular UK cover in around 5 minutes — and start unlocking rewards from the day you join.
